Social Startup 48 (SS48) - Sydney

SS48 is a weekend event where passionate people come together over an exciting 48 hours to build startup social enterprises

SS48 Sydney takes place on 4-6 May 2012 at Queen Street Studios, Chippendale. Applications for SS48 Sydney close on 13 April 2012. Visit http://ss48.org for more information

Who are we?

SS48 is a non-profit organisation committed to driving positive change in society the "business" way. We believe that the social sector in Australia falls short of operating at its full potential, and that it needs more attention in the community, particularly from the business and public sectors.

What is the vision?

Definition of success:
Success in the short term is defined by our ability to raise awareness about social entrepreneurship, and to have participants walk away from the event feeling better prepared to begin a new venture. Success in the long term, is defined by whether the social enterprises that were launched at SS48 will actually be able to go on and sustainably make a difference in the social sector.
What makes your project innovative?:
The SS48 model is being created in a way that the event can be re-created in cities around Australia and around the world. It is the first of its kind in Australia, where people spend the whole weekend working on creating a social enterprise and at the end of the weekend, they will actually launch their organisation.
What do you need help with?:
We need help with spreading the word on our upcoming event. We are also looking for: a) Keynote speakers to inspire and motivate participants, b) Presenters to share advice and knowledge, c) Mentors to provide coaching and guidence and d) Panellists to judge winning teams
