Charlie Leadbeater's insights into social innovation are fabulous. His examples of social innovation from around the world on his most recent visit - from mothers, parents, neighbours, volunteers - are drawn from what he calls the Social Innovation Life World, the relational, civil society-based sphere of life that is outside the formal, institutional sphere of public services management.

Self-Directed Services and Personal Budgets

A major field for social innovation is the development of self-directed services and personal budgets in aged care, chronic and mental illness, disability, special education and vocational training, and other areas of intensive personal and social support for individuals and families.

We are interested in hearing from people who want to exercise self-direction and self-managemetn in these areas, on behalf of themselves or their loved ones.
